I know you’re all busy getting ready for Thanksgiving, so today I just want to encourage you to take a break during this season and spend quality time with your family. We’re all so busy getting ready for the big day, but if we don’t slow down once in a while and just take time for our families, then what is the point of it all?
After your big Thanksgiving dinner this week, I hope you’ll get together with your family and plan some fun activities. One of my family’s favorite things to do to ring in the holiday season is to have a Christmas movie nite. This is so much fun and really gets me in the mood for Christmas. Here is what we do on our Christmas movie nite.
Set a date that works for our family. It’s difficult to get everybody together, so Thanksgiving weekend is the ideal time. I like to make it a big deal and make fun memories. This is especially fun to do after putting the tree and decorations up. Then you can turn off the lights except for the tree lights. It feels so festive!
Plan what movie to watch. If your family is like mine, everyone has their favorite. For that reason, we usually have more than one movie nite. So, you might want to start out the season with one of the really fun movies. Of course, the ages of your kids will determine what is fun for everyone in your family.
Have fun, healthy snacks. Make it an event and plan fun movie snacks. Be sure to have some healthy options, too. Here are some ideas for fun movie night snacks. Pick a few that your family likes and try to have something for everyone.
- Mixed fruit
- Cheese and crackers
- Smoked sausage and crackers
- Chips and salsa
- Pretzels
- Fresh veggies and dip
- Popcorn
- Caramel corn
- Hot cocoa and whipped cream
- Spinach dip and tortilla chips
- Cheese ball and crackers
I hope you’re inspired to start the busy Christmas season with some quality time with your family and friends, the ones who mean the most to you. Remember to take breaks throughout the season and do some fun activities with your family or even get a little time for yourself. I think you’ll really enjoy the holidays more if you do.
