Do you ever wonder how some people always have a clean house no matter how busy they are? I’ll bet if you asked them, they would all say they have a weekly cleaning schedule. And if you asked each one, you would probably notice they all have their own unique cleaning schedule.
Although I can’t give an exact cleaning schedule that works for everyone, I can help you figure out which cleaning schedule is best for you.
A CLEANING SCHEDULE THAT FITS YOUR LIFE
Our cleaning schedule usually depends on what life stage we’re in. The way I clean now as an empty nester is definitely different from when I had kids at home or when I was working. If you find that you struggle every week to find time for cleaning, that’s probably because you’re trying to clean according to a schedule that just doesn’t fit who you are right now. So, stop fighting it and find a schedule that will work for you.
The following are just some suggestions for making a weekly cleaning schedule according to your own unique life stage. Go through the list below and think about which description fits you and think about trying the cleaning schedule suggested.
- Empty nester cleaning schedule – Each week, have a full cleaning day for cleaning the entire house. This is ideal if you have plenty of time.
- Full time worker cleaning schedule – Clean one room each evening, preferably the living areas and bedrooms, and then clean the kitchen and bathrooms on Saturday morning.
- School-age parent cleaning schedule – You barely have any time to clean, but with kids, it’s needed, so devote one day every other week to a thorough cleaning and during the other week, go through the house and do a quick clean, hitting the really bad rooms.
- Parent with young kids at home cleaning schedule – If you’re a stay-at-home parent, you can do a little cleaning each morning and have one day each week to do deep cleaning projects.
- Holidays or busy calendar cleaning schedule – During this time of year, or any super busy time in your life, you might need to temporarily put cleaning on the back burner, by doing a quick cleaning each week and leave deep cleaning for when you are having guests or the week before Christmas.
Of course, there are other ways to plan your cleaning, but these are different schedules I’ve used throughout different life stages. So, pick a schedule, make it part of your weekly routine, be consistent, and you’ll find that your house is always looking pretty clean.
